The Atelier
One studio.
Every piece.
A note on how this is made
Patterned, cut, constructed and finished under one roof in Gurgaon.
The Antimony atelier is a five-person studio in Gurgaon. Five tailors, two pattern-makers, one finisher. Pattern, cutting, stitching and finishing all happen in a single room. We do not outsource. We do not stack-cut. We do not run pre-season stock.
Pattern
Cut in-house, sampled three times.
Every Antimony silhouette is patterned by the studio team. Never bought-in, never licensed. Each new pattern is sampled at least three times before it earns a place in the catalogue: once for cut, once for fall, once for ease. Pieces that don. Pieces that don’t survive the third sample don’t ship.
Cut
One pair of cutting shears, one cutter.
Cutting is single-hand, not stack-cut. The cutter lays each piece individually, matching grain and nap by eye. This is slower than industrial cutting. It is the reason an Antimony trouser hangs the way it does.
Construction
French seams, bound edges, hidden waistbands.
Inside-finishing reads as carefully as the outside. We use French seams or bound edges on shirting, hidden waistbands on tailoring, hand-rolled hems on silks, mother-of-pearl and horn buttons. Linings are washed before construction so they don’t shrink against the outer cloth.
Finish
A single finisher, every piece.
One studio finisher checks every Antimony piece before it ships. Pressing seams, snipping threads, settling lining, confirming buttons. This is the last hand the garment passes through before it reaches the customer.
Time
Five to eighteen working days, per piece.
Standard styles ship in 5–12 working days. Bespoke sizing and party-wear with embellishment take 12–18 working days. Every order opens its own cutting docket. Nothing is pulled from inventory because there is no inventory.
Repair
Lifetime construction repair.
Buttons that pop, hems that lift, lining seams that give — mail the piece to the atelier and the studio mends it without charge. The brand is not interested in selling the same trench twice.
A note from Tulika
On working slowly, on purpose.
I started Antimony in 2020 because I couldn’t find women’s western wear in India that did the small things right — a clean shoulder seam, a hem that hangs square, a lining that doesn’t twist after the first wash. We build the atelier around the small things. The catalogue stays small for the same reason: it’s the only honest way to keep the standard.
